there are dead leaves
sprouting from her amber spine,
reaching with child-fingers
to devour the sun.
her skin is freezing,
seeping winter through
november pores.
seeking warmth,
the whiskey tongues
of godless boys
wish to decipher
the atlas of her thighs.
counting the sleepy fireflies
alight in her lungs- there is
wanderlust churning & warming
her frostbitten heartstrings.
swinging pendulum hips,
"I am the tease of autumn flames.
I breathe in mint sunsets,
& gasoline dreams."

October Eyes
Such gentle colors drip across your freckled shoulder blades.
A quilt of puddled watercolors soaked in auburn shades.
Spun of golden rivulets and rinsed in autumn skies,
So many endless currents swimming through your lonesome eyes.
Brushing under fingertips and over shattered songs,
Unraveling like morning glaze against my paling palms.
With beauty like October hills and hollow as the skies,
The water drops against the earth will be our lullaby.

i am accused of being
a category five--
but i will not excuse the way my skin aches.
i want storms.
i remember the way Katrina screamed &
if you press your ear to my chest you will hear the same.
the moan turning into a pitch, the pitch
screaming until the throat is too raw to be
more than a whimper.
the way it stops
and pauses,
silently racked until it bursts forth once more.
i will not apologize for being demolition.
scars exist on every woman
too powerful to contain herself.

edit sober” and mean it.

tea. Take up smoking, ignore
the thoughts about it being
a slower suicide. Write about
suicide. Don’t mean it.
Write about sunsets and
ink veins. Mean it.
Fall in love with someone
who will never love me back.
Lament. Write a million
crappy poems and two good
ones. Never show him.
Move on. Write a few more
bad poems. Fall in love with
someone perfect. Screw it up.
Fall in love with someone awful.
Call him perfect. Screw it up.
Cry. Cry for the inevitab

Lit. Daily Pick Volume 11: November 2013At the start of the new year, I promised myself that I would be giving back to the literature community here on deviantArt again like I used to. Overall Vision
Originality Technique ImpactThis poem is an example of striking imagery combined with a rousing emotional aspect. The whole poem imparts a feeling of the chilly warmth of autumn's ruddy glow, and i can almost see the misting breath of the woman in the snow. I particularly like the metaphor of the woman as an amber tree. For the strength of the imagery, i give 5 stars for Vision
The imagery is good, but the originality and the ideas behind the poem do not step up to the very high mark the description has set, and i am not aware of a meaning behind the images, however, that might just be me. For this, i give 3.5 stars for originality
There does not seem to be any kind of overarching structure, making it seem a slight bit disjointed. However, Technique bumped up, again because of the quality of the images portrayed and the fact that the font choice lends a retro air to it. 4 stars for technique.
The impact of the poem is a very slight bit confusing, but i come away from this poem with wonderful images in my head that i can almost feel. a very strong poem overall, i give 5 stars for impact, and 4.5 stars overall.
